Levi world cup training center - high quality facilities for ski training

A concept created by Levi Ski Resort, Levi World Cup Training Center provides world-class training conditions from October until early May for alpine skiing, snowboarding and freestyle skiing. The road as a professional athlete is demanding and Levi wants to support athletes by providing its core expertise by building the best possible training conditions.

Ever since the early 2000s, Levi has been investing in training and event facilities for international alpine skiing. Alpine skiing World Cup competition has been taking place at Levi since 2004. In addition, Levi has hosted multiple annual FIS and international level competitions as well as Europa Cup events. In 2023, Levi will be hosting an international congress, Interski, for ski and snow sports instructors, that gathers more than 1500 ski and snow sports professionals from around the world to Levi.

“Finland has been successful in all winter sports, including alpine disciplines. Through Levi World Cup Training Centre and by providing high-level training facilities, we want to give our input for future stars to reach their dreams,” comments Levi Ski Resort’s commercial director Marko Mustonen.

LEVI WORLD CUP TRAINING CENTER PROVIDES INTERNATIONAL LEVEL TRAINING FACILITIES

The long winter season at Levi and good snow conditions from early October until the beginning of May, provides versatile on-snow training conditions. Levi as a destination also offers a wide range of additional and supportive training services.

Levi has international level training areas for alpine skiing at Levi Black, Levi West, Alpine Training Park as well as at Front Slopes. For freestyle teams, Levi offers a wide range of training facilities at the South Slopes’ terrain parks and Front Slopes’ Street/Fun Park.

Over the past few years, the resort has invested heavily in snow farming and creating the best possible conditions for the early season training. The front stage of the Levi World Cup, Levi Black slope, has been secured with preserved snow already several years, and a similar model for snow storing has been applied to Front Slopes. Levi opens the skiing season with its slopes and terrain parks already in early October and the experiences of the early opening of the season have been very positive.

The compact resort offers also great facilities for physical exercise and recovery, including a sports hall, gyms, cross-country ski tracks, and spa, as well as yoga and massage services. A wide variety of accommodation is also available at an optimal distance from the slopes.

AMBASSADORS AND COACHES LEADING THE WAY

Investing in expertise and know-how is one of the cornerstones in developing the training center. Levi’s ambassadors Tanja Poutiainen-Rinne, Maiju Laurila, Arto Majava, Joona Kangas and Zenja Potapov play an active role in this development.

Levi Snow Sport Academy, whose athletes are trained by one of the most experienced coaches in Finland, is also part of the World Cup Training Center concept. The coaching team includes Petri Tuomikoski, former head coach of the men’s National Ski Team, and one of Finland´s most successful alpine skiers, Jukka Leino.

Levi Snow Sport Academy offers its students the most competitive entity in Finland to combine training in different winter sports and studying. The Athlete study programme allows students to professionally practice towards their objective of being a professional athlete alongside their studies. Levi Snow Sport Academy also offers a Ski Instructor study programme, which offers students the opportunity to complete an alpine ski instructor or snowboard instructor vocational degree alongside their studies, and a FreeRide programme, which studies allow students to complete their alpine ski instructor training alongside their studies.

“Versatile facilities, know-how and the combination of training and studying is combined into one concept – Levi World Cup Training Centre. Our goal is to offer the best possible facilities for training winter sports effectively in Finland with international standards”, says Levi Ski Resort’s commercial director Marko Mustonen.
